Older Adults

OlderFlyer-A6-final-lowresDumfries and Galloway LGBT Plus are committed to running services which meet the needs of adults AND older people who identity as LGBT Plus.  We understand that those aged 50 and above can face additional challenges, not least as a result of growing up during a time when homosexuality was illegal, considered a mental illness or simply not talked about.

We run services which are specifically designed for those aged 50 plus, including:

We also do a lot of work with other agencies, trying to get them to consider the needs of LGBT Plus older adults, not least in health and social care settings.  This includes influencing current plans for the integration of health and social care.  We even plan to investigate whether there is a need for LGBT co-housing or care home options for our LGBT Plus residents as they age!

For more information about any of our work relating to LGBT Plus people over 50 email seniors@lgbtplus.org.uk or call / text 07889 401628.
