Mindfulness Course

The mindfulness course will be run by Moria from Mindful Scotland and consists of 8 sessions, each lasting 2 hours. In between weekly classes, you will be given instructions for home practice. To aid the home practices, you will be provided with a Mindfulness Manual and a set of guided practices to listen to. The recordings will be provided in MP3 format via Dropbox or you can download a free app for iPhones and Android devices.  If this causes you any difficulties, please let me know and we can discuss alternative formats.  The manual can be provided in printed or electronic format, or in a kindle accessible format.

Please note that this mindfulness course is educational and not intended to be a treatment for mental health problems. If you have recently received or are currently receiving treatment from a psychiatrist, psychotherapist or counsellor for an ongoing mental health problem, we advise that you obtain approval from your mental health professional before proceeding further with this course at this time. Also, if you have recently or are currently going through a traumatic life event such as a separation from a long term partner, the death of a close family member or friend or redundancy this may not be the right time for you to continue with this course. This very much depends on your current psychological health and the support networks that you have around you, such as friends, family and mental health professionals. Please contact me in advance if you wish to talk over whether this would be the right time for you to do this course.

If you are currently taking medication for a mental health problem, then we recommend that you do not change your medication, other than in close collaboration with your medication prescriber.

The training involves some gentle mindful movement.  The decision to perform any of these physical exercises remains your own, so please follow your own careful judgement to decide if they are beneficial for you to do or not.

If any of these circumstances apply to you or you have any questions about starting the course, please contact me at the email address above.
